Sahrawi refugee camps in western Algeria - a place where at least 100.000 people live. One hundred thousand forgotten cold war victims, refugees from 1975, they are the third generation of people living in the middle of the Sahara desert. They have to live there because politicians need them there. The very existence of many politicians in this part of Africa depends on them being there.
The people in the camps don't have any money and are dependent on international help. Some people work temporary jobs for European NGO's in the camps, other smuggle some contraband across the desert but most of them don't have any opportunity to earn money. Despite that, a few shops manage to exist in the camps.
